Duckie Ride- Digital Painting Process
My process begins with very rough thumbnail sketches, exploring different compositions and poses before I continue on to cleaner sketches.
After deciding on which sketch to take to finish, I begin on refining lines for the most important part of the image- in this case, the girl and duck.
Now I can begin to bring in color, starting with filling in flat colors and then doing some loose rendering and texture exploration with different brushes.
For this image, I painted mostly on one layer, trying to keep my process more in line with a traditional painting experience. Once nearly finished, I refined details and shapes with an overpainting layer.
Finally, I added a decorative border and color adjustment layers to create the final image!
