Felix Hastings (he/they) is an artist and illustrator originally from Minneapolis, MN, now based in Portland, Oregon. Using dreamy pastel colors, delicate linework, and a touch of cute kitsch, Felix creates whimsical artworks that share a sense of nostalgia and fantasy with his audience. As a mixed Korean-American, he grew up surrounded by cute stationery, toys, and clothing sent from family in Korea. These childhood treasures inspired a love for art and design that can be enjoyed even in small, everyday moments. His artwork often features pastel hues, toys, cute animals, and frilly details, drawing from what evokes joy and comfort in his own inner child.
While he received his BFA in Illustration at PNCA, Felix is at heart a multimedia artist. He is skilled in a range of traditional media such as watercolor, ink, and colored pencil, as well as digital illustration, printmaking, sculpting, and textiles. His inspirations include Japanese pop art and street fashion, vintage picture book illustrations, old toys, and all things nostalgic and cozy.
